Disney World Family Vacation | Spending Christmas at the Magic Kingdom

My parents gifted all of us Disney World for Christmas - for our kids, this was a HUGE surprise. In this video we're at Epcot for Christmas Eve and Magic Kingdom for Christmas. We stayed at the Wilderness Loge got to the parks early, returning for a quick break at night, then went back to the parks until they closed. The dining experiences were incredible! We loved the Be Our Guest Restaurant (where we had Christmas dinner) and Coral Reef Restaurant was so fun too (there for Christmas Eve dinner).[...]

They did WHAT?! The Epic Disney World Christmas Surprise.

Our Christmas plans were revealed after a year of planning! The stress of coordinating our movements around a secret almost killed me! We were all so excited for the kids to finally find out. Grammy and Grampy reveal to the grandkids they are going to Disney World for Christmas. This isn't the first surprise the kids have been lucky to receive from them. Not only is it a fun way to get the experience kicked off right, it's also super practical when we're dealing with kids and expectations. The adults involved were going stir crazy with excitement, so could you[...]

Welcome to the Jungle – Deception Pass Challenge SUP Race

We had a stormy fall and winter here in the Pacific Northwest. In this video I take you with our family of four from our sailboat to Deception Pass by ferry and car. We went there for Shane's SUP race, Deception Pass Challenge. This race has always been fun in the past. Despite the weather this year (challenge is in the name after all), we had a great time cheering on Shane and the other competitors. This was also the strongest gusts we had on the boat while at the dock in Port Townsend. In January we were able to move to a slip where, as Shane mentions, we co[...]

Boat Life Realities in the Pacific Northwest

Of course it COULD have been colder, and it did get colder as the winter went on in Port Townsend. Boat life comes with certain chores that, just like in a house, must be done regardless of wether or not you're in the Bahamas, or in the Pacific Northwest in the winter. Here's a quick glimpse of our weekly routine when we were in Point Hudson Marina in Port Townsend over the winter. We're a family of four that are moving onto our boat. It's been a long process, but we're in the final stretch! At Port Townsend we have liveaboard privileges, which was a big he[...]

Moving to Port Townsend for the Winter!

We found a little friend while moving our family sailboat from Bellingham to Port Townsend through the Puget Sound. It was further away than the camera made it seem, which is why we weren't sure if it was a log or a seal??… In this video I explain why Port Townsend was our "home" port for the winter and what we did there for the first couple of months. On the way to Port Townsend we stopover at James Island, which you can see a bit of in the video too![...]

Visiting the San Juan Island Boaters Love the Most

Our sailboat family of four head to Sucia Island in the San Juan Islands. I've been there as a teenager, but haven't been back since. Most boaters we've talked to admit, while this island is always busy over the summer, it's still their favorite destination to cruise to. It really is incredible. In this video we are stopping by Sucia before we head south for the winter. Well, south as in Port Townsend - still in the Puget Sound. We're still getting comfortable with our new boat while cruising the Salish Sea. Our boys are homeschooled - with some help from a[...]

Our Family Visits Cypress Island in the San Juan Islands

Our family of four visit Cypress Island, part of the San Juan Islands in the Puget Sound. Our boat is a 41ft motorsailer that we completed the purchase of in mid-August 2021. This is our third outing, jumping off to the islands from Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham. We experience our first story day on the boat, prior to heading out for the weekend. A small craft advisory in the evening kept us at the slip until the next morning. At the time we thought it was pretty windy. Port Townsend would teach us that was nothing. A beautiful, busy day out on the water,[...]

Casting off for the San Juan Islands as New Boat Owners

San Juan Islands

In this video our family of four heads off for the first time on our new to us 41 ft ketch in the American Pacific Northwest. Find out where we cast off to! The kids started school, doing conferences over Zoom. We were ready to get off the dock as a family for Labor Day weekend, after being approved for insurance. Our plan was to leave for anchorage on Friday night, but ended up pushing it to the next morning. Trip #1 Clark Island Saturday morning we stopped for a diesel top off for the first time. We thought it was pretty expensive. We’re now i[...]

We Bought a Boat While on Vacation

We closed on our sailboat while on vacation in California. The kids had summer camps and we had plans to be on sandy beaches. This video shares what we did while waiting for paperwork to be completed. We feel very grateful for being able to have had this experience together. Most of the music I place in our videos are songs we were listening to during the time of filming whatever we were doing. Or, I find music that is acceptable for Youtube monetization using stock music that fits the profile of music. I love that the music in this video attaches to their cor[...]

Day in the Life of our Liveaboard Family Celebrating Christmas

We're a family of four on a sailboat living aboard while doing homeschool and working. While I'm working on a video of how we bought the boat while on vacation, I'm sharing a real time video of getting into the Christmas spirit here onboard.

Shane’s gangster level has been engaged. Morning gym time looks different once again. I stayed cozy inside and did barre in the pilot house while the kids slept 👌

Beautiful!! This island is so beautiful no matter what season it is - or what the weather is. To be honest, I was really not looking forward to being “out” today with a forecast of rain, rain and all day rain. However, nature showed up in a big way.

I’ve never seen such a variety of birds, wild flowers and sea life all while it felt like we were in a cloud ☁️ Up Mt Grant early in the morning and around Cattlepass in the afternoon. I have never wanted a better camera more than today. A resting hummingbird - three eagles - two foxes - many (one dead dead) seals - two quails! - and other birds I couldn’t identify. Just beautiful.

Thank you San Juan Island!

Living adventurously every day — most of the past two years has been bursts of typical adventure coupled with a feeling of waiting for the next adventure. I don’t like feeling like I’m waiting around for the next exciting thing to happen.

Reading up on micro adventures has helped me reframe these holding patterns. If we get to go out and explore in a typical cruising fashion - awesome. If not, there is still plenty of opportunities to make the most of our days waiting on the engine 😋

Mt. Grant Preserve is my favorite public access land we’ve been to on San Juan Island so far. Westside Preserve was also incredible.

🤯 views - even on a cloudy day! Paved road all the way up with a variety of wild life showing off as you go. Poor newt - the signs aren’t lying when they say to watch out for them.

Crazy to see the surrounding houses and guess what their views are like. I’m so grateful for the organizations in the islands that make spaces available to everyone to enjoy. It’s as close as we’ll get to Sweden’s Freedom to Roam ⛰ 🌊
