6 Inexpensive ways to Improve Your video Quality

Add some light. If you shoot from your phone a simple ring light will eliminate some of the shadows and pull your face into focus. Ring lights average about $15-$20 on Amazon. Clip the light over the phone's camera. Charge the light using the USB charging cable. I prefer ring lights capable of adjusting the warmth and glow of the lights for your most filter free flattering look. Dedicate a real camera for recording your videos.I have used a Canon G7x since 2016. I currently use the G7x Mark II. I chose the Mark II over the newest version for the improved focus ca[...]

Embrace Your “Weird” – AudioBook Suggestion

You're probably already investing your time and marketing dollars into video. Are you fully representing what best connects you with your ideal audience in your videos? Seth Godin's We Are All Weird is my favorite crash course on the importance of embracing your "weird." I read the book when it was published back in 2011 and recently listened to it again on Audible. I even saw Godin in person when he was in Seattle touring for the book. His thoughts on "the masses" and education has had an impact on me to this day. Most importantly, when it comes to your videos the book talks about focusing in on who you a[...]

Fitness Class Edits

Carnation, WA

My class attendance was slowly pulling back and in the beginning of March I took my classes off our studio's schedule for low attendance. I put my last class on Youtube recording it using a GoPro. This is a simple series of edits that helped me get my class get up quickly and effectively. Here are some budget edits I did that I can assist you with: Cut your class into segments. I cut my 60 minute class into three videos for convenience. My warmup included pieces of my barre class for a light conditioning before we danced. Do you have portions of your cla[...]

Shane’s gangster level has been engaged. Morning gym time looks different once again. I stayed cozy inside and did barre in the pilot house while the kids slept 👌

Beautiful!! This island is so beautiful no matter what season it is - or what the weather is. To be honest, I was really not looking forward to being “out” today with a forecast of rain, rain and all day rain. However, nature showed up in a big way.

I’ve never seen such a variety of birds, wild flowers and sea life all while it felt like we were in a cloud ☁️ Up Mt Grant early in the morning and around Cattlepass in the afternoon. I have never wanted a better camera more than today. A resting hummingbird - three eagles - two foxes - many (one dead dead) seals - two quails! - and other birds I couldn’t identify. Just beautiful.

Thank you San Juan Island!

Living adventurously every day — most of the past two years has been bursts of typical adventure coupled with a feeling of waiting for the next adventure. I don’t like feeling like I’m waiting around for the next exciting thing to happen.

Reading up on micro adventures has helped me reframe these holding patterns. If we get to go out and explore in a typical cruising fashion - awesome. If not, there is still plenty of opportunities to make the most of our days waiting on the engine 😋

Mt. Grant Preserve is my favorite public access land we’ve been to on San Juan Island so far. Westside Preserve was also incredible.

🤯 views - even on a cloudy day! Paved road all the way up with a variety of wild life showing off as you go. Poor newt - the signs aren’t lying when they say to watch out for them.

Crazy to see the surrounding houses and guess what their views are like. I’m so grateful for the organizations in the islands that make spaces available to everyone to enjoy. It’s as close as we’ll get to Sweden’s Freedom to Roam ⛰ 🌊
