Morning Magic: Crafting a Creative Routine with Index Card Mastery
Make time for your creative pursuits by using index cards to keep your day on track, starting with your morning routine.
In the first part of the video I show you my Wednesday card deck and walk you through the setup. I’m focusing on the morning routine cards. In the video I have used a few of the cards already to make sure I got my writing in and resisted the black hole that Instagram can be!
The Just Get Started Card Deck template, within Canva, is used to edit custom cards in the second part of the video. I edit the template to create a custom routine, singling out my Morning Pages, Exercising, and Writing actions.
I didn’t get a chance to say in the video that my idea for exercise is to focus on completing it when the sun is higher in the sky – thank you winter! Morning routines are centered around working out for most, including myself. However, my priority is to make sure I get my writing in. While I might not be working my body, I’m definitely working my mind, which is something I really need.
Walking outside when the sun is high in the sky sounds like a much better use of my time set aside for exercise. I made a short video about all the ways I like to motivate myself to go outside and walk when the weather isn’t great. I never regret going outside for a walk to clear my head, get some steps and movement in, and greet people who pass by – but man, is it hard to get out the door when it’s raining, cold, and dark. So, at least I can give myself a little boost by walking in the daylight.
Using cards for your morning routine is easy when they are already done and all you have to do is print, cut, and organize them. Check out the Just Get Started Card Deck here: https://timeandtideplans.etsy.com/listing/1406616297/just-get-started-card-deck-index-card
